Stromlo Running Festival (SRF) is delighted to welcome back the University of Canberra (UC) as our Official Education Partner for 2025. This ongoing partnership highlights UC’s commitment to connecting academic pursuits with community wellbeing, while enriching the SRF experience for runners, volunteers, and supporters alike.
As part of the continued collaboration, UC students and staff will once again be closely involved in bringing expertise, energy, and innovation to the festival. From hands-on internships and volunteering opportunities to research and event support, the partnership continues to foster real-world learning while giving back to the Canberra community.
“UC’s participation in the festival illustrates our strong commitment to preparing our students for employment through real-world experiences and contributing meaningfully to Canberra and the broader region,” said The Honourable Bill Shorten, Vice-Chancellor and President of the University of Canberra.
“Running is just an excellent pastime. Personally, I have found that no matter what sort of day you have had, a run always improves your day.”
A highlight for many participants will be the return of the UC Recovery Hub on event day. This crowd favourite, led by UC physiotherapy students and supervised by experienced teachers, offers free post-run support to help runners recover, recharge, and celebrate their achievements.
Having UC return as our Official Education Partner is a testament to their position as a leading institution,” said SRF Race Director, Mel Bingley. “UC leads from the front in combining education with real-world impact, and this partnership strengthens the festival through the expertise of their students and staff while celebrating our shared values of health, learning, and community.
The collaboration between UC and SRF extends UC’s broader involvement at Stromlo Forest Park and showcases the University’s vision of harnessing the power of sport for wellbeing, inclusion, and social connection.
