Guest Speakers
Robert de Castella
Considered to be one of Australia’s greatest marathon runners, “Deeks” dominated the 1980s with world records and wins in the World Championships and Commonwealth Games. In 2009, he co-founded SRF alongside the Indigenous Marathon Foundation in 2010. Together, this signature event and charity champion health and resilience through running. Follow: @deek207
Dr Michelle Minehan
An Accredited Practicing and Advanced Sports Dietician, Michelle has provided nutrition advice in elite sports for over 25 years. Moving from the AIS to an academic position at the UC, she also consults to several groups including the Brumbies Super Rugby Club and the RAAF. Michelle co-authored the Survival series of cookbooks and was co-editor of Clinical Sports Nutrition, 6th Edition.
Professor Julian Périard
Research Professor and Deputy Director of UCRISE, Julien leads the Environmental Physiology Research Laboratory. He has worked with amateur and professional athletes from a wide range of sports. Julien’s research examines the way human physiology influences health and performance during exercise in adverse environments, such as heat and altitude, and the effects of long-term exposure.

Dr Jaquelin Bousie
A physiotherapist, and educator and researcher at UC, Jaqi has over 20 years’ clinical experience in private practice as well as elite sports. Her research focuses on musculoskeletal injuries, injury prevention, and human performance. Jaqi is especially passionate about running research and improving the health of women and girls. She is also a keen but mediocre runner.
