The inaugural SRF Marathon course offers a challenging adventure through the landscapes of Stromlo Forest Park. Beginning with a scenic journey along the eastern and northern slopes of the nature park, runners are treated to expansive views extending to the majestic Brindabella Ranges in the west.
As the course unfolds, participants embark on a mostly new section of track to SRF with a scenic loop of the western side of Mt. Stromlo. The route then ascends to the summit of “The Mother,” offering a panoramic vista of the Canberra region—an ideal spot for capturing memorable pics.
But the excitement doesn’t end there! Runners will double their summit experience as they traverse the regular SRF30 course before ascending once again. The final few kilometres are a descent back down to the event hub and finish line.
SRF Marathon consists of multiple rises with two major climbs one at the start and one towards the end of the race for a total of 1500m of vertical gain and is suitable for intermediate runners prepared to be on course for several hours with a cut-off of 8 hours for this event.
Runners can expect the course will be well marshalled and marked to ensure they can run carefree and enjoy the race without worry of navigation.
